If you didn't hear it on Friday, JJ Abrams posted on his social media that Star Wars Episode IX completed filming. The crew's wrap party was on Saturday--so now it's off to the races on details about the movie, like the title and a trailer.
A lot of people got extremely emotional about the image from JJ's announcement where we see Rey, Finn, and Poe--or Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, in a big group hug. One of the first things people noticed is Rey sporting her three-bun hairdo and Jakku attire from The Force Awakens. The popular opinion is that this image shows a return to Jakku, but according to Jason Ward, of Making Star Wars, Daisy Ridley's appearance has to match some of the unused footage that she shot with Carrie Fischer in The Force Awakens.
I have no idea if anyone has talked about what some of those scenes might be, involving Rey and General Organa, but the Junior Reader version of The Force Awakens novelization has this extended conversation between Rey and Leia before she leaves for Ach-To to find Luke Skywalker.
So in that conversation, Leia talks about how she almost started the training to become a Jedi, and she also tells Rey not to worry about falling to the dark side the way her son, Ben fell.
So I'm saying all of this because it might hint at whatever is going to happen with Ben Solo as far as a redemption arc. Personally, I think Ben is going to fully embrace the dark side, and if we see that conversation between Leia and Rey, it might be because that's exactly what's happening with his character. I'm going to talk more on that in a follow-up video dealing with the Knights of Ren rumors in another video, so stay tuned for that one.
Anyway--the film has wrapped. I would expect a title very soon, maybe as early as next week.
